Weekend Warrior
Written By: Genevieve Gagnon
From weekend warrior to downhill racer...
I moved back to the city from the mountains 4 and a half years ago.
I sobbed until the mountains faded from my rear view mirror but I continued my 3000 km drive back to my home town.
I went to college after an eight year hiatus and sacrificed riding for two winters and one summer.
I found a cozy pad in a trendy neighborhood and began a transition I had only imagined possible some few years ago...

"You gotta have grace to win a race"
Written By: Genevieve Gagnon
It was wonderful to be back in Mont-Tremblant.
Most of my weekends as a teenager were spent skiing and partying there.
That was before the huge Intrawest investment.
I frequently returned because it is such an amazing part of the Laurentians.
I had never taken the opportunity to ride the mountain before they shut it down to mountain bikers so I was very excited to ride and race that weekend...

Mental Training Workshop
Written By: Mom :-)
On Saturday April 30th I finally was able to participate in my first Gravitesse event, a Mental Training Workshop hosted and taught by Hannah Dayan, a true asset to our community.

This two-hour workshop was designed to give participants the tools for better mental preparation for racing by using various concepts; such as managing self-talk for proper race preparation and practical exercises encompassing visualization and strategy...

Hey Woman, Fix Your Bike!
Written By: Allison Lampi, Gravitesse Wanna-be.
At the first Gravitesse "Wrench Session" on January 15, 8 women who ride bikes a lot set out to change what I consider to be a socially constructed disability many of us have when it comes to the combination of tools and bikes.
Why is it that I am proud of the fact that I know how to change a cassette?
I don't even know how to take apart my hubs or bottom bracket, or other kinds of maintenance normally associated with muddy riding after care.
I don't even know how to true a wheel and certainly not tune my own suspension...

2004 Season Recap
Written By: Caitlin Kealey
A season recap - I don't want to write a season recap, because I'm in denial that the season is over...
I just bought a DH bike and I'm itching to finish the build and take him for a spin!
And there's so much I could tell you about my season, but I think for brevity's sake I will just impart lessons learned and goals for next season.

2004 Season Recap
Written By: Genevieve Gagnon
This season has to be my best one yet!
At the end of last year I rode the Q-Cup drop a few times but I knew that it was going to be the first thing I hit up this year.
I thought about it all winter and when spring finally arrived it was the first thing I did!
I pedaled my bike up Camp Fortune and got across to the Skyline side.
I stood at the top of the drop and told myself "this is my drop".
I was going to stomp it.
